Did you watch the match yesterday? The Polish team squared off (=zmierzyła się) against the German national team. The match was quite exciting with lots of twists. The Polish team was very close to win a historic victory but they let in a goal in the last second of extra time. Polish supporters were disconsolate (=niepocieszeni).
